Zach has coached over 30 triathletes in the last 4 years. His athletes range from beginners to long time racers, and have competed in triathlon distances ranging from sprints to the Ironman. They have also raced in duathlons and road race distances rangind from 5 km up to the Marathon. Every athlete that has raced under Zach has set a P.R. at some distance so long as they followed the program. His athletes have won/podiumed overall in multiple races, won/podiumed in their age groups countless times, have qualified for the Ironman and 70.3 World Championships multiple times, and qualified for the Boston Marathon. Read below for a list of results and testimonials from his athletes. (Listed in alphabetical order)
LUKE BEASLEY – 18-24 Age Group (Triathlete, Duathlete, Runner)
“Zach’s impressive knowledge of triathlon and emphasis on simple, straightforward, and highly effective training methods were a great aid in helping me reach my personal goals, including winning the 2010 Muncie Endurathon. When I contacted him about coaching, I was a broke college student who wanted to take my training to another level. Zach was extremely understanding of my situation and gave me superior guidance without making me take out any more loans! The plans Zach will put you on are not easy and they ultimately require you to put in the time, but they work. And that’s what you should really be after with any coach: nothing fancy, just proven effectiveness.”

“Zach was recommended by another seasoned triathlete friend that I know. My friend indicated that his overall strength and performance increased dramatically after one season of training under Zach. So I contacted Zach. Zach sat down with me and went through a detailed evaluation of my past performance in triathlon, other athletic endeavors and especially IM. My goal in 2010 was to qualify for Kona at IM Lake Placid. Zach set up a 6 to 7 month training regimen that I felt was good for my personal circumstances, age and goals. Make no mistake, Zach will push you pretty hard, but the results are proven. (I would whine sometimes to Zach, and he would listen, but I always knew he was smiling on the other end.) Along the way in training for Lake Placid, Zach continuously solicited feedback from me on my daily training, and adjusted the efforts as needed.
Well, the results of his training got me the goal I had pursued: a Kona slot. The training from LP to Kona continued and kept me on track to feel strong and do well at Kona. The thing that is most noticeable in my performance in IM is the endurance level that is achieved under Zach. If you do the work, trust me, you will be extremely surprised on how well you feel coming of the bike (in IM) and continuing through the marathon. This was what intrigued me when my friend first told me about Zach.
The thing I like about Zach is he is very personable and truly cares about your training and race performance. I never felt that interfacing via e-mail was a hindrance in any way. He is always accessible. He’s done the work and knows about all aspects of triathlon including nutrition, equipment selection/setup, injuries and he certainly knows how to race. Ke’s been there; he knows what works.
Zach has been a true motivator and earned my allegiance and respect. I would recommend my friend to anyone who is serious about endurance training.”

SHANNON COATES – 18-24 Age Group (Triathlete, Duathlete, Runner)
“Before being coached by Zach, I was a solid athlete who just finished running for FSU with no real experience in triathlon. Zach transformed me from being just a runner into a triathlete and my results were profound. We planned out a season of races my first season with him with the focus being Ironman Florida with the goal of qualifying for Kona. His training plan was crafted beautifully having me peak for Ironman Florida. We were able to modify workouts during an injury and refocus me coming off the injury. At Ironman Florida I won my age group of 18-24 by 40 mins grabbing my Kona slot and would have qualified for Kona in every age group out of the women’s field in 2009 with a 10:34. Zach from there took my training to the next level and trained me onto the podium at Kona in 2010 as 4th place female in the 18-24!! Zach is a fabulous coach and has paved the way for me to reach any and all of my goals.”

“Zach has been a good friend of mine for a long time and he has coached me for about a year. Zach’s program has brought me back to a fitness level I hadn’t seen since college. The flexible schedule allowed me to juggle a full-time job, family life with a two-year-old and marathon training. I qualified for Boston after my very first marathon. Three months later, I won my first race, a half-marathon, in ten years finishing just a few seconds off my PR. Zach is a great coach, listens to my feedback and makes changes when needed.”

“At 46 years of age I was very nervous training for my first full Ironman event. Zach Ruble prescribed a workout schedule each week that not only prepared me to finish Ironman Louisville in 12 hours, he also enabled me to workout around my demanding career. I am so happy to have completed four Ironman events and three 70.3 events in less than two years and could not have done it without Zach as my coach. As a cancer survivor, it was a personal victory to cross those finish lines.”

NERMIN HAIRLOVICH – 35-39 Age Group (Triathlete, Duathlete, Runner)
“I have spend 2012 training with Zach and it has been very successful year. I have made by far the most progress in a year with Zach then ever before. He started by looking at my results and goals and from that he identified a gap and created a focus area in my training plan. It started to work immediately. Early in the season we have focused on running and I have started a training so I would meet one of my goals, qualifying for Boston Marathon. In May I have qualified for Boston Marathon with time of 3:05 which was 17min PR. Three months later, I have done the Ironman Mort-Treblant in time of 10:17 which was 19min PR. The biggest improvement was on my overall fitness. I have improved in each discipline and had a step change in my fitness. Zach provides weekly customized training plan that takes in consideration not only your ability and goals but also adjusts for home and travel. Zach keeps communicating with you and often adjusts your training if he thinks it is needed. I would recommend Zach to anybody starting in triathlons or experience competitors trying to improve there performance.”

“Zach Ruble is to performance improvement as gas is to fire. Without gas a fire will burn, but with it….it burns hotter and faster. I’ve had Zach Ruble as a multisport coach for the last 2 years. I started with Zach after seeing a friend of mine that had worked with him for a year improve dramatically in his own performance. I will let my improvements speak for themself as to how valuable Zach Ruble’s guidance has been for me and my personal achievements. Before Zach’s help I, uncoached, had a personal best time in the Half IM distance in the 4:50′s. The first year with his help I PR’d with a 4:38.39 at the Muncie Endurathon and made the podium with a 3rd place AG finish. My previous IM distance PR (pre-Zach) was 11:56:42 at IM Louisville. 1 year with Zach’s coaching I PR’d by OVER 1 hour with a 10:44:03 at IM Louisville!! I then went on to complete IM Wisconsin 2 weeks later with Zach’s help and finished in what would have also been a PR with an 11:19:55. The following year (2011) at IM Louisville I again PR’d by about 52 minutes with a 9:52:36. 4 1/2 minutes from getting a Kona Slot. This with only 2 years under Zach. I have also improved my Half Marathon PR by over 7 minutes going sub 1:20 this year in Fort Wayne with Zach’s help. I won’t say that Zach’s workouts or the training regimen was easy, but I will attest to the fact that I did the workouts that were given to me to in the way that he meant for them to be completed whenever possible, and my improvements were dramatic, to say the least. I feel that I’ve certainly gone to a whole new level in my abilities in multisport and I can’t wait to see what this year will bring.
What I like most about having Zach as a coach is his willingness to work with me personally amidst my hectic schedule of life in general. He know’s that I have a family and a busy work schedule and occasionally cannot complete everything that he asks of me. Because of that, he works individually with me to adjust my training schedule around my work and family life on a week by week basis; and every week’s workouts are based on the performance from the previous week. This, unlike “canned” training programs or IM training programs from a book where the schedule is no different week to week no matter what your life and schedule look like. In order to achieve my best, I require a coach like Zach.”

“Zach Ruble has coached me for the last couple of years. When I first signed up with him I wanted to finish an Olympic distance triathlon and had no idea of how to actually accomplish this. I do not have a sports history, other than some touring-type cycling, and did my first triathlon at age 44. Zach has been wonderful. He knows when to push and when I need a lighter week, and got me through my first Olympic distance race in 3:53, which was under my 4 hour goal. Also, this year I had my personal best in a sprint distance at 1:36. I never thought I would break 1:40. He started me at a level I could handle given my limited background in sports and has helped me to gradually build to the point I can run 7 miles. Another feat I never thought I could do. I know without the help and coaching Zach has given me I would never have reached these goals. I highly recommend him.” - Rebecca Minser M.D.

“Zach Ruble has changed my life! I had dabbled in triathlons for a number of years, and this dabbling culminating into “finishing” Ironman Louisville in 2009. In meeting more triathletes in the area and enjoying the sport and training I was hooked up with Zach. The last two years have been amazing. My first season with Zach I concentrated on 70.3 distance races and qualified for the World Championships in Clearwater. This year I completed two more full Ironman races with ease and cutting a few hours off my previous time. His workouts and schedules have fueled my competitive nature and transformed triathlons into a lifestyle. His individual attention for each athlete is second to none as I have spoken with others who have coaches that do not give such consideration. Zach is an amazing coach and friend and the proof is in the results!!”

“I met Zach at a clinic that he spoke at I was sent there for my job. I really liked his coaching style but knew I most likely would never have the chance to have him coach me because I had a bum knee and couldn’t run anymore. About a year later I was lucky enough to get a knee replacement and start back on the road to racing tris again. I called Zach and he was up for the challenge. He knew exactly how to handle my overtraining issues and keep me happy with workout load and still not overdo the new knee. The first year he got me into shape enough to do my first ironman and without injury or surgery in over 6 years. I have stuck with the plan and was able to do another ironman this year and cut 30 minutes off the first one. His easy going style paired with the knowledge from his own injuries and racing has been just what I needed to get to the goals I have set for myself.”

JERRY STEINHOFF – 55-59 Age Group (Triathlete, Duathlete, Runner)
“I attended a triathlon clinic in 2009, where a Pro triathlete name Zach Ruble was giving a talk on his experience as being a Pro triathlete and as a triathlete coach. Zach’s speech convinced me that his NON cookie cutter approach to training is what I needed. He designed a plan that fit my ability, my goals, and my schedule. Under Zach guidance I went from placing in the middle of my age group, to being on the podium. I place 3rd at the 2009 Ironman Wisconsin with a time of 11:04:00, just missing a Kona spot by 73 seconds. They only have 2 slots for my 55-59 age group. My previous best time for that same race was a 13:36:00. I’ve qualified for the 70.3 world championship, and have been an All American in the USAT rankings for the last 3 years with his coaching. I can say honestly that having Zach as a coach, and me putting in the hard work, took me to a level I didn’t believe I would ever be at.”
